There is no single right answer for how often an office should be cleaned, but there is a simple way to work it out: look at how many people use the space, and whether the public walks through it.
Small offices with a handful of people and few visitors usually do well with one cleaning a week: trash, restrooms, floors, the kitchenette and a wipe of desks and shared surfaces.
Offices with ten or more people, or with regular client visits, typically need cleaning two or three times a week. Restrooms and break rooms are what fall behind first, and a reception area that looks tired is the first thing a client sees.
Spaces with heavy foot traffic — medical and dental offices, retail shops, salons and busy front desks — generally need daily cleaning, with extra attention on restrooms, waiting areas and the surfaces everyone touches.
Whatever the schedule, some tasks belong on every visit: emptying trash, cleaning restrooms and wiping high-touch points such as door handles and shared equipment. Others can rotate weekly or monthly, like dusting vents and blinds, cleaning interior glass and wiping baseboards.
A good sign you need more frequent cleaning: the trash is overflowing before the cleaner comes, the restrooms run out of supplies, or your staff has started cleaning up themselves.
